Product Description

The Yamaha YFL 372 GL flute with silver headjoint, gold-plated lip plate and open hole keys (French style keys) is the new and improved version of the Yamaha YFL-371 GL. The new model differs from the previous one by the newly developed and elegant-looking pointed key arms. The improved pads last longer and because of the further optimized production technology, the Yamaha YFL 372 GL has an even longer life.

All 300 series flutes have a headjoint which is made entirely of sterling silver, which gives the flute a warmer, more powerful tone compared to the 200 series. Through the use of nickel-silver for the body and footjoint, the flute can be offered for a much lower price than the sterling silver models, with only minimal concessions in sound.

The Yamaha YFL 372 GL plays easily and the accurate intonation helps students to develop a good ear. Due to the excellent value for money, reliable reputation and high residual value, this flute is a safe choice.

The following features distinguishes the Yamaha YFL 372 GL from other models:

Open Keys
Advanced players often prefer to open keys, as these offer more subtle control and flexibility of tone.

Gold-plated lip plate and riser
The YFL 372 GL only differs from the normal 372 by the lip plate and riser, which are entirily gold-plated on the GL (Gold Lip-plate).

Sterling Silver CY Headjoint
The headjoint of the Yamaha YFL-372 GL is made of sterling silver. This material with a 92.5% silver content has a greater density than the nickel-silver that is used for the 200 series. It therefore produces a warmer, more powerful sound. Due to the unique design of the embouchure, the flute provides excellent response and helps novice players to form a good sound quickly. Also the more experienced players will appreciate this head joint, because of the quick response in both high and low registers.

Split E-Mechanism

The high E is one of the toughest notes to play on a flute. The E mechanism of the Yamaha YFL 372 GL flute gives more stability and improves intonation and response of high E.

Offset G
The G key is placed slightly to the left, resulting in a more natural placement of the fingers for most people. Often teachers recommend that beginners start on a flute with an offset G configuration because it tends to play easier.

Trevor James Alphasax Gold

PERFECT FOR SMALL STUDENTS WHO FIND A REGULAR ALTO SAX TOO LARGE The gold lacquer Alphasax by Trevor James is a full sized Eb alto saxophone designed for small hands so that younger players can now start 2 - 3 years earlier and weighing 33% less than most conventional models. Made of brass and based on the award winning Trevor James 'The Horn,' the Alphasax has been designed in consultation with education professionals so that it can be used for the first three of the Associated Board Grade Examinations.  Supplied with the YOU CAN PLAY TOO online saxophone tuition DVD (exclusive to Sax.co.uk) TYPICAL PROBLEMS FOR A PLAYER WITH SMALL HANDS • Some keys are impossible to avoid, making the instrument unplayable & other keys are impossible to reach. • The weight can be too much for some young players (& some adults). THE ALPHASAX SOLUTION • Problematic keys have been removed or redesigned for extra comfort. • The weight has been reduced by an amazing 33%.  THE DETAIL • The left hand palm keys for top D#, E and F have been removed. • The top D key has been adjusted to fit small hands. • The low B & Bb keys have been removed. • Redesigned G# and low C# keys are now easier to reach. • The right hand side F# keys and side C key have been removed. • Redesigned low D# and C keys are now easier to reach. • The Alphasax retains a fully chromatic range from low C to high D. • Bb bis and side Bb keys are retained. The 'missing' keys are those at the extremes of the instrument's range that are not usually required until later on in the student's development. In all other respects the Alphasax plays and sounds like a conventional alto saxophone. FEATURES • Material: Brass • Finish: Gold Lacquered Brass • Key Touches: White plastic • Neck: The Horn • Engraving: None • Made in: Taiwan, set up in the UK • Case: Trevor James hard shaped (lightweight) case with straps • Mouthpiece: Trevor James plastic • 9 Month Interest Free Finance Available on this Product • Free Professional Set Up & Free Check over within a Year • Recommended for: Students REVIEW What a great idea! Not wishing to blow my own sax here but it was mine; but it took Trevor James' design wizard Dave Farley to make it a reality. The Alphasax plays and sounds just like their award winning Horn Classic sax because that's what it is, with a few important tweaks to make it playable by smaller hands. After years of disappointing enthusiastic 6 - 8 years olds by telling them they were too small I can now point them towards the Alphasax. Phill (Sax.co.uk)
