With the OD5, Austrian Audio introduces an active-dynamic microphone optimised for use on instruments. Handmade in Vienna and subject to the strictest quality assurance processes, the OD5 instrument microphone once again comes with some special features in the usual Austrian Audio manner. Most noticeable is the “Swivel Joint” mechanism. To simplify the positioning of the instrument microphone, Austrian Audio’s engineers have developed a suspension system for the microphone basket that allows a 220° rotation of the field. This allows the microphone to be precisely aligned to the sound source or according to personal sound preferences. A feature already known from the OD505 vocal microphone is the active-dynamic circuit. This ensures that even long cable runs have no negative effect on the signal. In addition, the active-dynamic design allows the integration of a proper high-pass filter. As a very versatile instrument microphone, the OD5 will find many uses. Perfectly suited for use on various drums, it’s also superb on guitar amplifiers, as well as in front of wind instruments. Made in Vienna. Again.

With the OC7, Austrian Audio releases a true condenser microphone with the popular OC sound, which is specially optimised for use on instruments. Handmade in Vienna, Austria, each OC7 undergoes rigorous quality control before it is shipped. The heart of the new microphone is the OCC7 small diaphragm capsule, also handmade in Vienna. With three different primary modulation options (tremolo, chorus, and phaser) and two parallel secondary modulation options (tremolo and chorus), Visitor immediately inspires new sounds in a single pedal format. Further strangeness occurs with the delay offset of the secondary modulation and the interaction of the secondary rate and the primary depth.

Keeley Magnetic Echo – The Mag-Echo pedal simulates tube tape echo sounds by using the delay circuit and a little bit of modulation.  Tape echos have long been regarded as a warm and very guitar friendly form of delay.  The Mag-Echo achieves similar results by using a touch of Lo-Fi delay, a slightly filtered echo response to keep things warm, and some modulation.  Modulation, or “Wow and Flutter” in the tape world is a slight pitch shift or wavering that occurs as the tape is pulled across the heads.  The modulation we use is similar to what we use in our Seafoam Chorus, a slight wavering of pitch on the trails of the repeats.  With a simple set of controls for the delay – Time, Regen, and Level and with the “Wow and Flutter” controls – Depth and Rate you can create some very vintage or rather unique tones.
