The Halcyon Gold Overdrive is an adaptive overdrive pedal featuring our proprietary Adaptive Circuitry. This unique design allows it to adapt its voicing in response to pick attack and volume changes, making it one of the most dynamic and interactive overdrives out there. While it is inspired by a certain rare and sought-after pedal, this is by no means a clone. We have gone to great lengths to recreate the exact characteristics of unobtainable vintage diodes and also built in some innovative features that go beyond the capabilities of the original.

We based this pedal on the Klon^® Centaur^® because it’s an all-time classic. Its clarity, dynamics and unique clean blend make it an excellent choice for players who like their overdrive pedals to have a more natural quality, capable of pushing the front end of any great amp. The all-too-frequently used term “transparent overdrive” really started with the Centaur^® – and it thoroughly deserves that reputation.

The Halcyon Gold Overdrive picks up where the Klon^® leaves off, adding even more playability to this players’ favourite. The signature mid-hump now responds to playing dynamics and volume knob changes, and we’ve included our own smoother, more neutral voicing too. Add in an adjustable DRY control and you have an undeniably classic sound with way more variety.

THE DETAILS:

The Halcyon Gold Overdrive’s party trick is its ADAPT switch. This allows the pedal’s mid-forward voicing to gradually fade away as the pedal cleans up, giving you classic Klon^® tone with your guitar cranked but revealing the full spectrum of your clean tone as you roll back the volume knob. This breakthrough feature means you never have to tread that fine line, wondering if your drive pedal should be on or off. As the original Klon^®’s mid hump increases with the gain control, the Halcyon’s Adaptive Circuitry allows you to run higher than usual levels of drive and still clean up, all the way back to the transparent boost tones that made the Centaur^® famous.

The DRY control lets you adjust the level of the dry signal that makes up part of this classic drive tone. Increasing this control adds body and definition when boosting a low-gain amp sound. When used with a clean amp, turning the DRY control down lets you get the most out of this pedal’s higher gain tones. As well as making the DRY level adjustable, we have made improvements to this DRY path, changing the overload characteristics when stacking with other pedals, giving you access to even more flavours of drive.

The VOICE switch gives you the ability to select either the classic Klon^® mid hump or a smoother, more balanced tone. The KLN setting is simply the standard voicing, while the MOD setting engages a broader mid hump and a softer, more compressed clipping characteristic. The MOD setting is particularly well suited to single coil pickups, and higher gain tones paired with very clean amp sounds.
The Halcyon Gold Overdrive takes a modern classic and turns it into something even more responsive and versatile, while never losing the character, musicality and sheer power of the world’s most coveted and controversial pedal.

Please note: the HALCYON GOLD is powered by a mains adaptor only (not included). We’ve dispensed with the usual 9V battery option, both to save space and to allow us to adopt a high-current approach, yielding lower noise levels and superior tone. Origin Effects pedals are designed to deliver impeccable performance using a range of power supplies.

We recommend you only use a regulated power supply specifically designed for guitar pedal applications as power supplies which do not have sufficient internal filtering can result in unwanted noise.

Fender Santa Ana Overdrive V2

Santa Ana V2 is a JFET-based class-A overdrive pedal running at 18V internally — a design that provides the touch sensitivity and high-headroom drive that players expect from a Fender tube amp pushed hard and then some. At its heart, this dual-voice drive circuit sports three straightforward controls and a Voice switch to push your guitar from natural-sounding tight overdrive (voice A) to smooth, thick lead tones (voice B). The Drive and Tone controls provide a wide range to dial in just the right flavor of gain and treble presence in the drive signal, while the rear-mounted Tight switch pulls some pre-drive bass frequencies out for an even more focused feeling drive. To further sculpt the frequency response of your drive, a standalone, independently switchable 3-band EQ circuit is built around the Santa Ana V2 drive engine. Active Bass, Middle, and Treble controls offer a wide range of adjustment, cutting or boosting each frequency range with a center detent to mark flat response. Determine exactly how the EQ circuit interacts by using the EQ Placement switch to stack the EQ before or after the drive: Pre-drive EQ flavors the overdrive’s response by determining which frequencies are clipped most by the drive circuit; post-drive EQ lets your guitar hit the drive head on and shapes the resulting gain tones for a more dramatic EQ effect. With a fine-tuned JFET drive engine, independent EQ circuit, conveniently switchable buffered and true bypass modes, and multiswitch enabled footswitches for momentary and latching activation, the Santa Ana V2 is an ultra-flexible, intuitive overdrive with tons of tones on tap.

Fender Pugilist Distortion V2

The Pugilist V2 is a distortion pedal like no other, wielding dual independent distortion engines packed inside one chassis to crank out a wealth of thick tones. Each distortion engine can be turned on separately using its designated footswitch and dialed in using its own Gain, Tone and Level controls. This provides two distinctively flavored distortion voices, with Engine A delivering treble-rich lead drive tones and Engine B laying on thick, heavier distortion. The real magic of Pugilist V2 is in the Path switch, which runs the two distortion engines through three different signal paths as they push each other into harmonically rich saturation. The two Series Modes send one circuit into the other for stacking drive tones that can be layered like amp channels, using the footswitches to kick into the next level of cascading distortion. Parallel Mode delivers deep tone-shaping by running the two engines side by side to be blended and balanced using the level controls to create the perfect meld of articulate, chunky distortion. The Pelt V2 is a pro-level fuzz pedal with a classic spirit. Built around silicon transistors and a buffer-friendly input stage, it packs all the fuzzed-out tones a saturation-lover could ask for — from full, biting octave fuzz to smooth, harmonically rich walls of gain. Utilizing a unique take on OTA technology for real-time gain control, this compressor reacts to your playing dynamics smoothly and naturally to balance the volume of louder and quieter sections while adding sustain and thickness to your notes. The Bends V2 simplifies compression to three clearly labeled controls — a three-speed Attack switch, a fine-tuned Release control, and an Input control which sets the input level of the compression trigger.
