UNCOMPROMISING COMMITMENT TO THE BEST SOUND
Responding in particular to discerning players, the SU series feature true Yamaha craftsmanship in every aspect. Only carefully selected top-of-the-line materials are used for all the parts, including the hammer felts and piano wires, are the same as used in Yamaha’s world-renowned, flagship CFX concert grand piano. Moreover, throughout the final voicing and regulation, we spend more time than on other upright pianos, and skilled engineers balance the entire instrument. Through these tasks, we have achieved an accurate and agile response and a rich tone suitable for the flagship model.
SUPERB SOUNDBOARD FOR RICH RESONANCE
The soundboard is effectively the sound source of the piano—it makes the strings audible—and because of its importance, we carefully selected the wood based on its sonic clarity and how accurately it conveys details in the resonance. The SU7 features a remarkably delicate response and luxurious sound, thanks especially to the concerted effort we put into soundboard development and getting optimum resonance.
SUPERIOR PLAYABILITY THAT RESPONDS TO THE PLAYER’S EMOTIONS
The SU series has also been designed and manufactured with special attention to the keyboard structure and the action mechanism, allowing the player to control and respond in detail to force and speed when playing the keys. The SU7 in particular features a design in which the keys have been given sufficient length to ensure smoother initial movement, and the positional relationship of the action mechanism has also been re-examined and revamped. By increasing the controllability of the piano, the SU series lets you truly play the sound as you want and feel.
NATURAL AND TRANSPARENT SOUND LIKE A GRAND PIANO
In order for the player to fully sense this rich ambience and enjoy the performance, the SU series uses tone escapements for the sound to easily reach the ear. These are gaps that release sound from inside the piano, located at the top of the lower front plate (below the keyboard) and the back of the keyboard lid. Moreover, by adopting a top support that allows the lid of the piano to be opened and closed in a double-folding type (the SU7 has two stages), a truly natural sound—much like that of a grand piano—has been realized.
