An innovator and pivotal influence on effect-laden guitar tones, Kevin Shields awakened iconic sonic walls of fuzz like the world had never heard as he defined the tone of alternative rock in the '80s and '90s. His tool of choice for fuzz laden chaos: an original Fender® Blender effect pedal, prized for its dynamic response and gripping fuzz splatter. Now, through over four years of co-development Fender and Shields have resurrected this mythical 1970's fuzz and injected a subversive feature set, creating the all-new Fender Shields Blender.

At its core, the Fender Shields Blender echoes the tone of Shields' own vintage 1970s Fender Blender, thanks to carefully hand tracing the circuit from his personal fuzz box. Built around this vintage circuit are entirely new ways of controlling and blending the original fuzz voice, all crafted with performance in mind utilizing four easy-access footswitches. Two footswitchable channels of fuzz, each with dedicated level controls, offer the ability to blend the fuzz voice with your clean signal or to blend the fuzz voice with a beefy suboctave fuzz, while the sag footswitch introduces sputtering and ducking effects like never before heard, all controlled by the intensity of your playing dynamics.

DESIGNED AROUND A CLASSIC

Designed around Kevin Shields' original Fender Blender circuit, with his added tweaks, the Fender Shields Blender adds an Octave-Up push button to toggle the original octave-up fuzz voice on and off, unlocking all-new vintage fuzz tones.

TWO FOOTSWITCHABLE CHANNELS

The Octave Footswitch toggles between two channels of fuzz. Channel one blends the fuzz voice with the original clean signal. Channel two removes the clean signal and instead blends the fuzz with a monophonic suboctave fuzz.

BLENDABLE FUZZ

Use the Volume and Blend knobs to set the right balance of clean and fuzz signals to create unique crisp tones, then use the Fuzz and Octave knobs to craft the right mix of double, or triple, octave fuzz.

REACTIVE SAG CIRCUIT

The revolutionary sag circuit uses dynamic sensing circuitry to create imploding fuzz tones. By starving the transistors of power relative to the picking intensity used by the player, you can harness controlled chaos like no other fuzz.

Fender Santa Ana Overdrive V2

Santa Ana V2 is a JFET-based class-A overdrive pedal running at 18V internally — a design that provides the touch sensitivity and high-headroom drive that players expect from a Fender tube amp pushed hard and then some. At its heart, this dual-voice drive circuit sports three straightforward controls and a Voice switch to push your guitar from natural-sounding tight overdrive (voice A) to smooth, thick lead tones (voice B). The Drive and Tone controls provide a wide range to dial in just the right flavor of gain and treble presence in the drive signal, while the rear-mounted Tight switch pulls some pre-drive bass frequencies out for an even more focused feeling drive. To further sculpt the frequency response of your drive, a standalone, independently switchable 3-band EQ circuit is built around the Santa Ana V2 drive engine. Active Bass, Middle, and Treble controls offer a wide range of adjustment, cutting or boosting each frequency range with a center detent to mark flat response. Determine exactly how the EQ circuit interacts by using the EQ Placement switch to stack the EQ before or after the drive: Pre-drive EQ flavors the overdrive’s response by determining which frequencies are clipped most by the drive circuit; post-drive EQ lets your guitar hit the drive head on and shapes the resulting gain tones for a more dramatic EQ effect. Fender Pugilist Distortion V2

The Pugilist V2 is a distortion pedal like no other, wielding dual independent distortion engines packed inside one chassis to crank out a wealth of thick tones. Each distortion engine can be turned on separately using its designated footswitch and dialed in using its own Gain, Tone and Level controls. This provides two distinctively flavored distortion voices, with Engine A delivering treble-rich lead drive tones and Engine B laying on thick, heavier distortion. The real magic of Pugilist V2 is in the Path switch, which runs the two distortion engines through three different signal paths as they push each other into harmonically rich saturation. The two Series Modes send one circuit into the other for stacking drive tones that can be layered like amp channels, using the footswitches to kick into the next level of cascading distortion. Parallel Mode delivers deep tone-shaping by running the two engines side by side to be blended and balanced using the level controls to create the perfect meld of articulate, chunky distortion. The Pelt V2 is a pro-level fuzz pedal with a classic spirit. Built around silicon transistors and a buffer-friendly input stage, it packs all the fuzzed-out tones a saturation-lover could ask for — from full, biting octave fuzz to smooth, harmonically rich walls of gain.
