The BASSRIG Fifteen is an all-analogue amp recreation, based on the legendary Ampeg® B-15 Portaflex® amplifier. Introduced in the early 1960s, the B-15 was the first dedicated bass combo amp and is still highly sought after today, with its low output power and unique cab making it the perfect choice for the studio. While its signature warm clean tones and subtle overdrive are synonymous with the sound of ‘60s soul records, it’s at home in any genre that calls for a vintage bass tone. Familiar, responsive controls let you dial in instantly recognisable retro studio tones, while the BLEND control adds in clean signal for low-end clarity and extra articulation. THE DETAILS:

Authenticity is paramount when designing our Amp Recreation pedals, so we started the process by acquiring a real, vintage Ampeg® B-15. We subjected this coveted amp to a rigorous set of tests and measurements, then recreated its entire signal path in miniature using carefully designed solid-state circuitry. This includes the preamp, phase inverter, power amp and reactive load, all simulated inside the BASSRIG Fifteen. This adds up to an all-analogue preamp pedal that not only sounds just like the world’s favourite studio bass amp, but has that all-important playing feel too!

CAB SIM/DI CAPABILITY

Vintage bass tones are still relevant today but modern rigs are very different, so the BASSRIG Fifteen gives you all the warmth and character of the B-15’s 1×15 cab from the cabinet-simulated DI OUT. This super-accurate analogue filter gives you a studio or stage-ready DI tone that will fit right into any mix. Flexible switching on the DI OUT lets the BASSRIG Fifteen double up as a clean DI, a cab sim for other preamps, or an unfiltered preamp ready to pair with your favourite IR loader.

AMP OUT EQ/MISC

For players hooking the BASSRIG Fifteen up to an amp, the AMP OUT EQ offers a comprehensive set of controls aimed at matching the pedal’s tone to the voicing of their amp and cab. Please note: the BASSRIG is powered by a mains adaptor only (not included). We’ve dispensed with the usual 9V battery option, both to save space and to allow us to adopt a high-current approach, yielding lower noise levels and superior tone.

Origin Effects pedals are designed to deliver impeccable performance using a range of power supplies. We recommend you only use a regulated power supply specifically designed for guitar pedal applications as power supplies which do not have sufficient internal filtering can result in unwanted noise.

We recommend the following power supplies for use with our pedals:

Fender Santa Ana Overdrive V2

Santa Ana V2 is a JFET-based class-A overdrive pedal running at 18V internally — a design that provides the touch sensitivity and high-headroom drive that players expect from a Fender tube amp pushed hard and then some. At its heart, this dual-voice drive circuit sports three straightforward controls and a Voice switch to push your guitar from natural-sounding tight overdrive (voice A) to smooth, thick lead tones (voice B). The Drive and Tone controls provide a wide range to dial in just the right flavor of gain and treble presence in the drive signal, while the rear-mounted Tight switch pulls some pre-drive bass frequencies out for an even more focused feeling drive. Determine exactly how the EQ circuit interacts by using the EQ Placement switch to stack the EQ before or after the drive: Pre-drive EQ flavors the overdrive’s response by determining which frequencies are clipped most by the drive circuit; post-drive EQ lets your guitar hit the drive head on and shapes the resulting gain tones for a more dramatic EQ effect. With a fine-tuned JFET drive engine, independent EQ circuit, conveniently switchable buffered and true bypass modes, and multiswitch enabled footswitches for momentary and latching activation, the Santa Ana V2 is an ultra-flexible, intuitive overdrive with tons of tones on tap.

Fender Pugilist Distortion V2

The Pugilist V2 is a distortion pedal like no other, wielding dual independent distortion engines packed inside one chassis to crank out a wealth of thick tones. Each distortion engine can be turned on separately using its designated footswitch and dialed in using its own Gain, Tone and Level controls. This provides two distinctively flavored distortion voices, with Engine A delivering treble-rich lead drive tones and Engine B laying on thick, heavier distortion. The real magic of Pugilist V2 is in the Path switch, which runs the two distortion engines through three different signal paths as they push each other into harmonically rich saturation.
